Waipouli Beach Resort H207

Escape to Kauai

* * * * *

My husband and I used VRBO for the first time when visiting Kauai in mid-September. It was our first trip to Kauai and the standard hotel room rates were very expensive! We also preferred more room than a standard hotel room. Our son uses VRBO all the time and convinced us to use it. We searched and found a one-bedroom condo at the Waipouli Beach Resort and Spa for half the price of a small standard hotel room! The accommodations were fabulous – large kitchen with SubZero fridge, Wolf stove, Fischer & Paykel dishwasher drawers, beautiful cabinetry, granite counters with island and barstools, and plenty of dishes and other utensils; a comfortable living area with eating table for 4, nice TV and seating; a master bedroom with king bed (very comfy!) and another TV, large master bath with soaking tub and an adjacent half bath with nice shower. The unit also included a stackable washer/dryer which we used. Woodwork throughout was beautiful and very Hawaiian (dark and lustrous). Carpeting in bedroom and living area, lovely Tuscan tile in kitchen and baths. The resort was really a wonderful surprise!!! We did not know what to expect but it was very high end all around. A large lazy river pool with several waterfalls and 2 water slides (very fun, open to adults too – 60 somethings had much fun!) and at least 3 hot tubs, one for families with children and the rest for adults only. A full service spa as well – Swedish massage was great! The best was the on-site restaurant and bar – The Oasis! Great food and we me some locals who gave us good tips on things to do. It’s right on the beach, open air with beautiful vistas. Wednesday happy hour features a local ukelele player who is excellent! Beach had a devoted area for Monk Seals who regularly came up from the water to nap in the warm sun – literally steps away from the human visitors! It’s also located in Kapaa, midway between Princeville and Poipuu Beach. We will definitely stay here again, without question!!!
