5 Top Kilauea Attractions

On the northeastern tip of Kauai, you will find the coastal village of Kilauea, an exquisite destination with lots of nature to explore, beautiful beaches, landmarks, and outdoor things to do such as hiking, swimming, horseback riding, kayaking, surfing, and more.

It’s well worth the adventure to the north end of the island to spend some time in this scenic and charming town, about a 30-minute drive from our resort rentals on Waipouli Beach.

Below are five amazing Kilauea attractions that visitors come far and wide to experience, but there are many more in the area to explore.

Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens

Location: 4101 Wailapa Rd., Kilauea, Kauai, HI

The Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens offer a Kilauea experience like none other. If you’re not up for one of the island’s big hikes, walk this garden path for a taste of Kauai’s rainforest. With the smells and ambiance of a tropical forest in the air, this path opens to a wide stretch of northern Kauai coast.

On the guided tours, you will be taken through the botanical history of the island and see the remarkable diversity of habitats and flora and fauna here. Here you’ll find live orchids, tropical birds, and a stunning lagoon by the ocean.

Once the landscape project of Joyce and Ed Doty, the Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens has turned into 240 acres of gardens with incredible bronze sculptures, farmland, meadows, and hardwood tree parks. These renowned gardens are a highlight of any trip to Kilauea. A visit costs $10 per person. Children four and under are free.
