North Shore

Kauai’s four main shores are each filled with activities and attractions for the whole group to enjoy. East Shore

Kauai’s East Shore is also called the Royal Coconut Coast, thanks to the abundance of coconut palms. The golden beaches must be seen to be believed, and natural landmarks like Nounou Mountain are ideal for hikers. Wailua River State Park is a favorite spot for kayaking, and Kapaa Town will be your spot for picking out the perfect one-of-a-kind souvenir.

Watch the Spouting Horn shoot water up to 20 feet high, and grab some fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants with an unparalleled view of the ocean. Whether you’re into golfing, shopping, or sightseeing, you’ll find something to indulge in on the South Shore.

West Shore

Finally, the West Side combines quirky towns with stunning nature. This area holds the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” the incredible Waimea Canyon. You’ll also enjoy hiking at Kokee State Park and soaking in the view from Kalalau Lookout. Head into the city of Hanapepe for a great history lesson and a special chance to pick a locally-made craft to take home.

Largest Towns

While Kauai is Hawaii’s smallest island, there are still several sizable towns for you to explore. The largest city on the island is Kapaa, with approximately 11,000 people. Here, you’ll find the beautiful Waipouli Beach Resort, which puts you right in the center of the action and gives you quick access to all the best attractions.

Another busy town on Kauai is Poipu, one of the most popular tourist towns on the island.
